Diversity & Sensitivity Training for Individuals & ORGANIZATIONS
The members of New England G.O.A.L. are always providing new training programs to organizations and individuals to help them get a better understanding of G.L.B.T. issues and laws. Recently, our social community organization completed diversity and sensitivity training for the entire city of Cambridge, Ma, Fire Department as well as for the City of Cambridge, MA, Police Department, the Springfield, MA, Police Department, the Lowell Police Academy, and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department. It was a great training session with a very informative PowerPoint presentation.
Board members of our organization are now in the talks to continue this training with other departments throughout the New England area. If you are interested in taking part in this training then please let us know. Additionally, if you or anyone you know is having issues, questions, or problems at your place of employment, then let us know that as well and we will be glad to help you in any way possible.
What Is Included in Our Training Programs?
|When you work with our organization we will provide comprehensive training for police officers and other criminal justice professionals in an effort to enhance their knowledge of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (G.L.B.T.) issues and laws. It is our mission to provide the most current law updates, statistics, and community concerns to enable each law enforcement officer and agency to better provide services to their respective communities. It also allows us to help provide a safe working environment for G.L.B.T. professionals within the agency.||Our organization provides the necessary tools to guide students in our training programs through same gender domestic violence, bias crimes, G.L.B.T. community issues, and G.L.B.T. families. We facilitate this training by maintaining the highest level of instructors, derived from the community of openly G.L.B.T. criminal justice professionals.|
The History of Our Diversity Training Program
|Diversity training, as performed by our organization, dates back to the early 1990’s. We have trained officers in police academies across New England, including such departments as the MA State Police, CT State Police, Boston Police, Providence Police, M.B.T.A. Police, New Haven Police, and other MA criminal justice training centers. The training has also been provided to numerous college campus police departments, probation departments, and other higher learning communities.||In November 2004, our organization made history by bringing the first ever G.L.B.T. issue related training to the International Association of Chiefs of Police at their 111th annual conference in Los Angeles. Only 14% of the thousands of training proposals submitted to the I.A.C.P. were selected to be included at the conference; a statistic that vividly illustrates the magnitude of our training program. Presenting along with our organization was former Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen M. O’Toole, Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton, and CT State Representative and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Michael P. Lawlor.|
We are a very well-respected organization that is attempting to bridge the gap between police departments and the G.L.B.T. community. Our training offers information and resources that is community policed-based and is essential for every department as all agencies police the G.L.B.T. community.
